On-line TEAMS meeting 9:40-10:10. Biography Box Students are asked to find three objects from home that will tell their friends something about themselves. For example: a toy car because they know a lot about cars, a rolling pin because they love to bake, or a picture of a special trip the family went on because they love to travel. Try to include items that are unique to their interests and passions, the communities they belong to, and that show something special others might not already know about them. Over the course of the week during our TEAMS meetings, friends will take turns sharing their Biography Boxes with their classmates. The Grade One teachers will model how to present a Biography Box by presenting one of their own during the first TEAMS meeting on Monday, January 10th! We can’t wait to learn more about what makes each of us special and unique in our classroom communities!

Math- Chips and Salsa (card game) Please note: You do not require a full deck of cards. Ace=1, face cards=10. Remove any Jokers or make them wild. How to play: Shuffle a deck of cards. Place four cards face up in the middle, and place the remaining cards in the deck face down in a circle around the four cards. The four cards are your “salsa” and the face down cards are your “chips” in the bowl. The goal of the game is to MAKE 10 as quickly as you can by putting two “salsa” cards together (for example, 8+2, Ace+9). Face cards and tens are the exceptions that can be used as single cards that MAKE 10. Remove the cards from the “salsa” as you make ten and put them in a pile to be checked later (that cards add up to 10). Each time you remove “salsa” cards to MAKE 10, you must replace the cards with the face down cards from your “chip” bowl. Continue until all the “chip” cards are gone. You can time yourself to see how fast you are and play again to try to beat your best time OR challenge a family member(s) to play with their own cards and see who is first to finish! Good luck and have fun!
